Frequently Asked Questions
How do I uninstall BlockOut?
If BlockOut is set as a device administrator (full version), you need to deactivate it first. During your weekly settings period, go to Settings > Apps > BlockOut > Uninstall, or go to Settings > Security > Device administrators and deactivate BlockOut, then uninstall normally. You cannot uninstall outside of your settings period — that's by design.
Why does BlockOut need the Accessibility Service?
The Accessibility Service is how BlockOut detects when you open a blocked app or visit a blocked website. It's the core mechanism that makes blocking work on Android. BlockOut does not use this permission to read your screen content, collect browsing data, or transmit any information. See our privacy policy for full details.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All your data stays on your device. BlockOut has no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no data collection of any kind. Your blocklist, settings, and statistics never leave your phone.
Can I change my blocklist outside the settings period?
No — and that's the point. BlockOut is designed so you can't make impulsive changes when you're tempted. You get one window per week to adjust your settings. This is what makes BlockOut effective where other blockers fail.
What's the difference between BlockOut and BlockOut Lite?
BlockOut Lite (Google Play) has all the core blocking features but can't include enforcement features like uninstall prevention, anti-tamper, and boot persistence due to Play Store restrictions. The full version (available here and on Samsung Galaxy Store) includes everything. Both are free. See the full comparison.
How do I get a refund on premium?
If you're not satisfied with premium features, contact us within 30 days of purchase at support@getblockout.app and we'll issue a full refund. All blocking features remain free regardless.
BlockOut isn't blocking an app or website. What should I do?
First, make sure the Accessibility Service is enabled for BlockOut in your device settings. Some Android manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei) have aggressive battery optimization that can kill background services. Check Settings > Apps > BlockOut > Battery and set it to "Unrestricted" or disable battery optimization for BlockOut.
